InShore Slam Fishing Tournament
Runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Historic Spanish Point, 337 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey. First and second place prizes of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded for redfish, trout and snook categories. The weekend starts with dinner at the captain's meeting, along with a silent auction Friday. Saturday is the All Bait Fun Tournament with check-in from 3 to 4 p.m. Registration is $95 per angler. Multicultural Earth Festival
Runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd. The first Sarasota Multicultural Earth Festival is hosted by the Sarasota Native American Indian Festival community and will feature dance, music, food, culture and a focus on eco-consciousness, as well as learning about world cultures. Starts at 5 p.m. at the Sarasota Children’s Garden, 1670 10th Way. The March 19 event was rescheduled due to weather. Wine & Cheese Event
Runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bayfront Community Center, 803 N. Tamiami Trail. The Democratic Club of Sarasota hosts the off-Broadway Actress Barbara Bates Smith and musician, Jeff Sebens, present a dramatization of Doris "Granny D" Haddock's 3,200-mile walking journey across America in 2000 for campaign finance reform.
