Gas leak
12:40 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Fire/Gas Leak: Police responded to a call about a possible natural gas leak. Firefighters were already at the scene and said there was initially a slight smell of gas near the gas marker, but the smell had disappeared.
Who fits the bill?
11:10 a.m. — 500 block of St. Judes Drive
Fraud: A restaurant owner received a $50 bill that police determined was counterfeit. He said the bill came in sometime during the day, and he had no description of the suspect.
Dog gone
8:05 p.m. — 3800 block of GMD
Dog on the Beach: Police responded to a report of a dog on the beach but found no evidence of the dog.
Love is a battlefield
10:35 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road
Threatening Phone Call: A man and woman said they were receiving phone calls from a Sarasota woman threatening to hire a mercenary to have them both killed. The man said the caller wants to be in a romantic relationship, but he wants nothing to do with her.
Turn down the volume
11:14 p.m. — 700 block of Lyons Lane
Noise: Police responded to a noise complaint and explained that sounds are magnified across the canal. The resident said he would speak more softly.
Tampering troubles
7:52 a.m. — 400 block of GMD
Suspicious Circumstance: A gas station employee called police because he suspected someone had tampered with the security tag on a pump. Police obtained two partial fingerprints but did not find any skimmer or other device on the pump. However, the day before, police found a Bluetooth cable from the same pump. Police believed whoever placed the cable attempted to remove it overnight.
