THURSDAY, April 21 through SUNDAY, April 24

A group of 120 Olympic rowing hopefuls descend on Nathan Benderson Park for the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials. Action begins at 8 a.m. each day and runs throughout the weekend. 

FRIDAY, April 22 through SUNDAY, April 24 

Local golfers, including Lakewood Ranch graduate Ericka Schneider, hit the course for the LPGA Symetra Tour Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota. The Symetra Tour is the qualifying division for young professionals to earn their playing card on the LPGA Tour. 

SATURDAY, April 23 through SUNDAY, April 24

FC Sarasota will host its third annual Sarasota Cup at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. More than 180 youth soccer teams from across the state are expected to compete during the two-day tournament, which begins at 8 a.m. each day. 

THURSDAY, April 28 

Nine Braden River track and field athletes compete at the Class 3A-Region 3 meet, which begins at 10 a.m., at Charlotte High. The top four athletes in each event will advance to the Class 3A state meet May 6-7.
