The manager of an adjacent property reported seeing the same subjects hop a pier and head south on the beach. I’m on a boat
3:07 a.m. — 7000 block of Poinsettia Avenue
Public Service: An officer discovered an unoccupied truck with its brake lights on. After finding a toolbox pressing against the pedal, the officer unlocked the door through an open window and deactivated the brake. Police could not contact the owner of the truck, because he lives on a boat.

Mistaken identity
12:08 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD
Suspicious Person: Police responded to a derelict property in response to reports of a homeless man loitering in the area. The caller said the man was wearing a blue shirt. An officer saw a man in a blue shirt walking northbound on GMD, but he did not appear to be in physical or mental distress, so police declined to make contact.

Take the hint
6:16 p.m. — 5100 block of GMD
Welfare Check: A woman asked officers to check on her friend, because she saw her vehicle was at her resident but was not responding to calls. Police went to the woman’s unit, and she answered the door and said all was well, and her phone must have been off the hook.

April 17

Ding, dong, glitch
4:46 a.m. — 7000 block of Firehouse Road
Suspicious Incident: A man reported that his doorbell rang at 4:30 a.m., but when he opened the door, nobody was there. Officers canvassed the area, but did not find any suspicious activity. The man said it was a new doorbell, so it may have been malfunctioning.
