Sarasota senior Vaun Brown drove in a pair of runs and scored a run to help lead the Sailors to a 10-0 victory against Lakewood Ranch in the Class 8A-District 8 championship April 21.

1 — Booker senior Hunter Johnson pitched a three-hitter to propel the Tornadoes to an 11-2 victory versus St. Petersburg Lakewood April 21 to give Booker its first district title in 13 years.

2 — Sarasota senior Vaun Brown drove in a pair of runs and scored a run to help power the Sailors to a 10-0 victory against Lakewood Ranch in the Class 8A-District 8 championship April 21.

3 — Former Sarasota Crew rower Hunter Leeming finished 12th out of 21 rowers in the time trials of the men’s 1x, at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials April 21.

4 — Sarasota’s Adam Bradtmueller, Renier Escalona-diaz, Jordan Gonzalez and Brady Hill set a new school record in the 4x800-meter relay April 20, finishing in 8 minutes, 4.75 seconds.

5 — Grady Martin went 2-for-4 at the plate and also earned the win on the mound during Sarasota Christian’s 9-3 victory against Naples Seacrest Country Day in the Class 2A-District 6 championship April 21.
