Airing out the mattress
8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota
Suspicious incidents: The business called to report a debacle that began July 23 over a concealed firearm that was returned to customer service. A thin white female, who provided the identification, returned an airbed and received a straight exchange before leaving the store. Customer service representative processed the exchange but did not thoroughly check the open mattress box as per store policy, and put it aside. On July 24, another representative was taking back returns and the firearm fell out of an air mattress box onto the floor. Staff immediately made the gun safe and unloaded it. The store provided the sheriff’s office will the person’s Florida ID attached and will provide the video for review.

Grand theft: The victim reported his cousin took his safe with $20,000 in it.

5300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota
Theft: Based on video surveillance and reporter information, unknown suspects(s) stole items from the store and attempted to get a refund for one of the stolen items.

Off the chain 
7100 block of 85th Street Court E., Bradenton
Burglary to a dwelling: Unknown subject(s) entered the open carport of the residence and removed a chainsaw valued at $100.

Drop and give me $20
7100 block of State Road 70 E., Bradenton
Utter Forged/Fake Bank Bill: The complainant stated an unknown female presented merchandise at the register and handed the clerk a $20 bill, which the clerk tested and determined to be fake. The clerk let the female know the bill was fake and the female stated she received it from another store. The clerk told the female she was calling the sheriff’s office and the female left the store. She did not take or receive any money or merchandise.

Food fight
8400 block of Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota
Trespass warning: The man was sleeping in a booth at the restaurant. The restaurant manager asked him to leave and the man became angry at being woken up, throwing a food tray on the ground. He was located at bus stop nearby. A deputy brought the suspect over and trespassed him.
