SATURDAY, Aug. 13

River Strand Golf and Country Club will hold a one-day doubles tennis tournament for players of all levels. The men’s and ladies events will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the mixed doubles tournament at 1 p.m.

SATURDAY, Aug. 13

Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate in Candy’s Circus Run to benefit CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. The 5K and 1-mile fun run and walk will begin at 8 a.m., at Nathan Benderson Park.

TUESDAY, Aug. 16

The Braden River volleyball team will get its first taste of competitive action when the Pirates host their Preseason Classic. The tournament, featuring Cardinal Mooney, Port Charlotte and North Port, will begin at 5 p.m. with a second game to follow at 7 p.m. The second round of the tournament is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Aug. 18.

WEDNESDAY, Aug. 17

The Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team will welcome the fall season when it plays host to Hardee at 7 p.m. in a four-team preseason tournament. The Thunder will conclude preseason play versus Southeast at 7 p.m. Aug. 18.
