Sarasota High 5 Moments: 08.18.16

1 — Nikki Yanez, 12, won her third national title of the year after capturing the Hard Court Doubles National Championship Aug. 12, in Alpharetta, Ga. 

2 — On Aug. 12, Sarasota catcher Cole Madden announced his commitment to play baseball for West Point Military Academy. Cole is the first Sailor to attend West Point for baseball. 

3 — Pitcher Satchell Norman allowed three hits and three walks while striking out seven to help propel the Sarasota Babe Ruth 13U All-Stars to an 11-0 victory against Meridian, Miss., in pool play of the World Series Aug. 14. He also went 3-for-4 with three RBI. 

4 — Riverview senior Austin Katz was recently named to the United States’ roster for the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships Aug. 24-27, in Maui. 

5 — Former ODA outfielder Desmond Lindsay tied a team record for the Brooklyn Cyclones, finishing with seven RBI Aug. 12.
