The Manatee County School Board tonight will consider change orders to a contract with Willis A. Smith Construction that will result in $608,000 in savings for renovations at Bashaw Elementary School.

The scope of work included an expansion of cafeteria and office spaces, upgrading ceiling tiles, new carpet and resilient flooring, minor traffic upgrades and a new air conditioning system, among other improvements. The total project budget was $14.6 million, and the savings are associated with costs for materials, documents show.

The meeting starts at 5:45 p.m. at the School Board chambers, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
