Rock for a Cause seeks local musicians

Rock for a Cause, an annual battle-of-the-bands-style fundraiser that benefits Sarasota-area music education, is currently seeking local musicians to participate in its 2016 concert this November. 

The event, going into its third year, invites bands, duos or solo acts of all ages and genres from Sarasota and Manatee counties to submit two songs — in video or audio formats — to be considered for the chance to perform and win $1,500.

Submissions are due by Sept. 18, after which, the public will cast votes online through Oct. 17 to select the six bands to perform at the concert, which takes place from 2 to 9 p.m. Nov. 12, on Main Street.

The band with the most votes will win $1,500 cash and headline the show.

Proceeds from the concert, which is hosted by S-One Holdings Corp., will be used to send students of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation to the Berklee College of Music Summer Programs.
