Breakfast now served at The Old Salty Dog on Longboat Key

You don’t have to wait for lunch or dinner anymore to visit The Old Salty Dog.

Breakfast is now served from 7-10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the self-styled British pub at 1601 Ken Thompson Parkway just south of the New Pass Bridge on Longboat Key.

For more than 25 years, the Old Salty Dog has been known for its seafood, beer-battered hot dogs, icy drinks and beautiful waterfront views.

At least 22 breakfast dishes are now available, too, including Maine lobster Benedict, shrimp and grits, biscuit and gravy and salmon BLTs, along with an array of breakfast sandwiches and favorites. Prices range from $.4.99 for the steelcut oatmeal to $13.99 for the smoked salmon plate and lobster Benedict.

Morning mimosas, bloody Marys and bayside Bellinis are available, too.

After a renovation in 2015 doubled the size of The Old Salty Dog, they decided it was time for breakfast.

“There’s a lack of breakfast options on Longboat Key,” Blair said.

Biking groups and golfers have discovered breakfast at The Old Salty Dog already since its soft Nov.  7 inception. Shear said he expects business, now at roughly 50 meals each morning, to take off soon after word gets out. The University of South Florida grad said feedback has been strong on the new breakfasts, which made the move worthwhile already.

“I just like seeing people happy,” he said.
