The stage was set Sunday morning at Temple Emanu-El for the seventh grader’s reenactment of Judah Maccabee’s reclaiming of the Temple of Jerusalem.
It was a familiar story to those in audience, with an adorable twist as the children donned their worn out wigs and fake beards. The performance was met by thunderous applause from the delighted audience.
More Hanukkah festivities followed the performance including crafts, snacks and a crazy sock exchange. Instead of a typical gift exchange, each child brought two pairs of crazy socks — one to exchange in their classes and one to donate.
