Basketball

The Lakewood Ranch boys team beat Venice 83-54 on Dec. 13 to remain unbeaten (7-0). Junior Damien Gordon led the way with 18 points, and junior Jack Kelley had 16 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Braden River boys team defeated Manatee 72-50 on Dec 13.. Senior Deoni Cason had 22 points, and junior Daniel Tart had 10 points and seven rebounds. 

On Dec. 13, the Out-of-Door Academy boys team beat Sarasota Military Academy 77-54. Senior Nate Patrick had 21 points and seven rebounds, and senior Amad Brayboy added 16 points and six assists. 

Golf

Ane-Grethe Delaney and Lynn Pisani, and Pat Helpbringer and Claire Wilcox won the Ladies' Golf Association Holiday Shotgun Step-A-Side Scramble on Dec. 13 with a 61.2. The event was played at University Park Country Club.

In a two best balls of four event at Palm Aire Country Club on Dec. 13, Betsy Ratterman, Mary Beth Grey, Nancy Washburn and Jeannine Lyons (123) won the Mistletoe Flight, Jean Harris, Tina Catlow, Shirley Barra and Barbara Pearlman (125) won the Holly Flight, and Dawn Sutton, Barbara Clements, Pat Wagner and Susan Hirst (119) won the Poinsettia Flight.

Tennis

The women's 50 and over Lakewood Ranch tennis team of Lorraine Varone, Karen Nicholson, Marybeth Hennessy, Marcia Caplan, Heidi Cox and Anna Seal won the USTA 7.5 Combo Sectional Championship in Daytona Beach on Dec. 11. The team went 6-0 in the tournament.
