Laura Freedman sat in front of a captive audience Dec. 14 at Gulf Gate Library. She reached for the first of two books she would read to the young, rapt audience, but first she had to take off her blue, menorah glasses.
Although she was unable to read with the festive spectacles set the tone for an evening of fun and learning to commemorate the Hanukkah season.
After reading "Light the Menorah" and "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Dreidel," children dispersed to do holiday crafts.
Freeman has been doing the event for six years, but she has yet to grow tired of it.
"They all have big wide eyes and are happy," Freedman said. "It's a lot of fun."
