With their fanciest hats atop their heads, the ladies of the Sisterhood of Beth Israel gathered for an English high tea on Dec. 19 at Temple Beth Israel.
From black hats to blue ones and flowered ones to simple ones, the ladies present dressed for the occasion.
“It’s just silly, but it’s fun,” President of the Sisterhood of Beth Israel Barbara Siegel said.
The theme of an English high tea was suggested by Corinne Sniderman, Rabbi Stephen Sniderman’s wife, who was the speaker for the afternoon. Sniderman, who is a former Presbyterian, discussed her conversion to Judaism and shared with the ladies what it’s like to be married to a rabbi.
About 60 members enjoyed the afternoon complete with a variety of tea, scones and lemon curd, finger sandwiches and cream of mushroom soup. While the ladies ate, two members, Judy Goldstein and Barbara Pressman, modeled clothes from J. McLaughlin.
