Newly appointed Mayor Terry Gans is definitely making the nice list this year. Gans assisted the Longboat Key Kiwanis Club with its annual bell ringing for the Salvation Army on Dec. 16. The Kiwanis Club will be ringing the bell outside of Publix until Christmas Eve.

For the past 10 years, the club’s kettle has been a top producer for the Salvation Army, said John Wild, volunteer coordinator for the club. In 2015, the club was the top location and is the leader for 2016, said Glenda Leonard, development director for The Salvation Army.
