Pair of girls hoops teams march on

The Sarasota Christian and Booker girls basketball teams are both bound for the regional finals.

The Sarasota Christian girls basketball team is heading back to the regional finals after edging past Keswick Christian 50-46 in the Class 2A-Region 3 semifinals Feb. 9. 

McKenzie Lantz scored a game-high 27 points and Kaylynn Snyder added 13 points. 

The Blazers will host Covenant Christian School of Palm Bay for the Class 2A regional championship, at 7 p.m. Feb. 13. The winner will advance to the Class 2A state semifinals Feb. 16.

The Booker girls basketball team cruised to a 49-28 victory versus Spoto in the Class 5A-Region 3 semifinals Feb. 9. 

Cellexia Foster recorded a double-double, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Arie Bass added 10 points and 17 rebounds. Diamond Merced contributed nine points. 

The Tornadoes will host Fort Myers Dunbar at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 in the regional finals. The winner will advance to the Class 5A state semifinals Feb. 18.
