The Circus Arts Conservatory Presents: 'Red, White & BELLO'

Local seventh-generation circus performer Bello Nock stars in this winter performance, which also features Sarasota's "Queen of the Air," Dolly Jacobs, who will soar through the air. Other performers include Nock's daughter, Annaliese, foot jugglers, acrobatic mountain bikers, speed juggling and aerial bubble performances.

 

New Stages: Kate Weare Company 'UNSTRUCK'

This dance trio explores movement and sound, featuring an original score by composer Curtis Macdonald. The performance explores the concept of the heart chakra, or unstruck sound, which is the sound of the celestial realm and associated with balance, calmness and serenity. Runs Friday and Saturday.

 

'The Sound of Music' Sing Along

'Stupid F%#*ing Bird'

This Urbanite production is more than just an eye-grabbing title. Although, we have to admit, the bold choice did pique our interests — who doesn't enjoy a strategically placed expletive? Beyond that, this play is an irreverent, comical contemporary remix of Anton Chekhov’s "The Seagull." Written by award-winning playwright Aaron Posner, "Stupid F%#*ing Bird" both mocks and pays homage to Chekhov, while exploring how disappointing love, art and growing up can be. Life's a drag, am I right? Runs through March 13.

 

New Music New College: Eliza Ladd: 'Selfie of the Ancients'

Sometimes, the inability to define something is what makes it great. This hard-to-describe performance, a mix of dance, movement and sound, explores the idea behind a selfie and how it might apply to our ancestors and their legacies.

This annual party gives the public a chance to interact with the artists of SARTQ. Enjoy live music, food and the exhibitions on display at Art Center Sarasota while getting your own clothing screen printed.

 

Key Chorale: 'Bach and Beethoven'

Key Chorale celebrates the work of Bach and Beethoven with professional soloists and members of the Sarasota Orchestra, conducted by artistic director Joseph Caulkins. The concert will feature Bach’s “Magnificat” and Beethoven’s “Mass in C Major.” Joining Key Chorale will be Angela Mortellaro, Carol Sparrow, Blake Friedman and Todd William Donovan.

 

My Naughty Valentine

Art Center Sarasota's current exhibitions include "SART Q: Print," a collection of small-scale limited prints by SARTQ members; "Spectrum," an experimental installation with work from three artists; "ASALH: Black Muse," a curated exhibit of the member artists of the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History; and "Visually Speaking," an open, all-media, all-subject juried exhibit.

'Hands on a Hardbody'
