Athletes celebrate victory with a shower of Gatorade. Why not a mid-run shower of holy water?

The route for the second Sarasota Music Half Marathon was steps away from the Church of the Redeemer downtown. The Rev. Richard Marsden, of Church of the Redeemer along with parishioner Nick Nichols decided bless runners as they passed the church. It was Sunday morning after all.

Many runners welcomed the blessing as they finished Mile Six on their 13.1-mile route. They accepted the blessing without losing their pace.

Have you seen me?

Have you seen Andy on Siesta Key?

Andy, 2-year-old a hound dog, is missing and was last seen at Higel Avenue and Treasure Boat Way on Siesta Key. Andy escaped from the home of his foster parents Tuesday afternoon.

“He’s been in the shelter for some time,” said Jeanne Francisco, a volunteer for the Humane Society. “He’s shy and kind of afraid of people and cars. But he’s very sweet.”

He may not respond to his name. Francisco recommends anyone who sees him to put food down and let him approach it slowly. If you have questions or information, call Francisco at 484-336-6600.
