For the first time in three years, the Sarasota Christian girls basketball team won't be making a trip to Lakeland for the Final Four after falling to Palm Bay Covenant Christian 66-41 in the Class 2A-Region 3 finals Feb. 13.
The Blazers had reached the state semifinals each of the past two seasons, including a state runner-up finish in 2014.
Sarasota Christian senior McKenzie Lantz, who was one of three seniors, including Andrea Wittmer and Nicole Miller, who played their final game in a Blazers uniform, finished with a team-high 17 points. Miller added eight points and 10 rebounds. Wittmer, who returned after missing three games with a concussion, contributed six points and five rebounds.
