Petit Theft: Two women and a young child entered a store. They selected clothing items and shoes and went to the dressing rooms to try them on. When they left the dressing rooms, neither room had any merchandise in it. The two were stopped when they exited the store and detained until the Sheriff’s Office arrived. One of the alleged thieves was arrested, the other was released since she had the child with her.

Like a good neighbor

Information only: A man came to the Sheriff’s Office to report that his neighbor has harassed him for months by calling him derogatory names. He said the man has not threatened him or damaged anything, but wanted to have the incidents documented. The man has gotten letters from his neighbor’s lawyer that in fact he is harassing his neighbor. The man did not say what derogatory names his neighbor was using.

Bad reception
5700 block of Timber Lake Drive
Domestic disturbance: A husband and wife got into a verbal argument with their two sons over a cell phone. The phone had gone missing and the wife accused her sons of taking the phone. The deputy stated in the report that both boys were adamant they did not take it and were upset their mother was saying they did. There were no signs of physical altercation, so the deputy gave them a domestic packet.

Alias flop
Edenville Drive and Macarthur Avenue
Resisting arrest: A deputy saw a young man driving an unregistered dirt bike at a high speed on the residential street. The deputy stopped the man for speeding, and said in the report the man was very nervous and refused to give the deputy his name. He then called someone on his cell, and the deputy could tell the person on the phone was telling him what name to say, and the man then told the deputy his name was Manvel Cannay. Then the man struggled to tell the deputy his date of birth, finally saying he was born Feb. 4, 1991. The deputy asked him to repeat his name and spell it again, and this time the man said it was Mannvel Cannday. The deputy requested back up and began to research the given names, and the man tried to get on his bike and start it several times, despite the deputy telling him to sit down on the sidewalk.  When back-up arrived, the man tried to run away, but when the deputies told him he would be tazered if he did not stop running, he complied. The man finally admitted he gave a false name because he had a bench warrant in Manatee County for missing court.
