Ending up with someone from your childhood is rare, but that is the story for Allison Nace and JC Cornell.
Growing up in Sarasota, Allison’s sister Ashley, JC and close friend and future best man Colin Showalter became close friends while attending The Out-of-Door Academy. “I did not get to spend as much time with JC as my sister did, but I did see him when the kids of Tangier Way decided to get together and play ‘Man Hunt,’” says Allison. As they all grew up and went away to college, Allison and JC always managed to stayed in touch.
When Allison moved to New York City for school, JC happened to be living a short train ride away, in Westport, Conn. They met up one night with friends, and before they knew it, it had been 14 days of train rides back and forth to spend time with each other. “That’s when I knew we were starting to fall in love,” says Allison.
The Proposal
After two-and-a-half years of dating, JC planned a special evening in Allison’s mother’s hometown, Hingham, Mass. As they were walking to their table at the restaurant, Tosca’s, he surprised her with red roses and champagne at their table — when she turned around, he was down on one knee.
The Wedding
The wedding took place Nov. 21, at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota. The ceremony was held in the healing garden and the reception took place in the ballroom.
“Our wedding day celebration was more than both of us could have ever imagined — a feeling of pure euphoria,” Allison says.
The bride’s favorite moment of the night: Five minutes alone on the second-story balcony before the reception began. “I think it’s important to have some time alone before you dive into the party. It was really nice to celebrate alone in a romantic setting right after the ceremony,” says Allison.
The groom’s favorite moment of the night: Dancing on stage with the band.
