FRIDAY, FEB. 26

The Riverview boys basketball team is headed back to the Final Four for the second time in program history and the first time since 1993. The Rams will face South Miami in the Class 8A state semifinals at 2 p.m., at The Lakeland Center. The winner will advance to the state championship game at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. 

FRIDAY, FEB. 26

Five Sarasota area boys and girls track teams will aim to put their best foot forward when they hit the track at 2:30 p.m. for the annual Sarasota Riverview Ram Invitational. Fourteen teams stretching from Port Charlotte to DeSoto County will participate in Friday’s meet, including Booker, Sarasota, Riverview, Sarasota Christian and ODA. 

FRIDAY, FEB. 26

The Sarasota baseball team looks to remain unbeaten when it hosts district rival Lakewood Ranch at 7 p.m. It’ll be the second district game of the season for the Sailors and a rematch of last season’s regional semifinal contest. 

SATURDAY, FEB. 27 and SUNDAY, FEB. 28

Looking to defend its title, the Sarasota Crew hopes to get off to a fast start when the 7th Annual Sarasota Invitational Regatta launches at 8 a.m., at Nathan Benderson Park, in Sarasota. 

More than 1,500 athletes in youth, masters and adaptive rowing from across the Southeastern United States are expected to compete in the two-day regatta.
