THURSDAY, JAN. 7

The Lakewood Ranch High girls soccer team will close out its regular season when the Lady Mustangs host Cardinal Mooney at 6 p.m. on Senior Night. Lakewood Ranch seniors Danielle Wilson, Julia Ortiz and Conli Schwartz will be honored during the game, which will feature a pair of teams that posted 10 or more wins on the seasons en route to clinching the No. 1 seeds in their respective district tournaments.

FRIDAY, JAN. 8

The Lakewood Ranch High boys basketball team, which sits atop the Class 7A-District 11 standings at 3-0, hosts Sarasota, a team still searching for its first district win of the season, at 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs cruised to a 70-28 victory against the Sailors Dec. 8 in the first meeting between the two teams.

MONDAY, JAN. 11

The Lakewood Ranch High boys soccer team, which has locked up the No. 1 seed in the district tournament, hosts Venice at 7:30 p.m. It will be the third meeting between the two former district opponents this season. Venice held the upper hand in both contests, shutting out the Mustangs 1-0 Oct. 29 and 2-0 Nov. 5.

TUESDAY, JAN. 12

The Braden River High boys basketball team seeks redemption when it hosts Palmetto in a Class 7A-District 11 contest at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers made 12 3-pointers in the first meeting between the two teams on Dec. 11 en route to a 79-55 victory. The Pirates are seeded third in the district standings behind Palmetto and rival Lakewood Ranch and a win would put Braden River one step closer to securing a first-round bye in the district tournament with two district games remaining on the schedule.
