OBITUARY | Riva Kramer

Riva Kramer, 92, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died Dec. 24.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Cornell University, she was a pingpong champion and math tutor to legions of students who fondly remember her “shortcuts.”

Before moving to Longboat Key and then to Sarasota, she and her husband, Jay, lived in Great Neck, N.Y.

She is remembered for her intelligence, wit and outsize generosity.

Mrs. Kramer was preceded in death by her husband, Jay, in 1996. She is survived by her son, Michael; daughter, Laura Lowell; and one grandson.
