Theodore Lake Tilton Sr., 74, of Longboat Key, died Jan. 1.

Born Aug. 17, 1941, in DeKalb, Ill., he graduated from Rochelle Township High School. He held a Bachelor of Science from Cornell College and was a lifelong active member of Delta Phi Rho fraternity. He also obtained a master’s degree in mathematics from Northern Illinois University.

Mr. Tilton worked for many years as vice president of First National Bank of Rochelle, where he also sat on the board of directors.

Mr. Tilton is remembered as a positive, loving man who lived life to the fullest. He loved skiing, tennis, swimming and playing the guitar. His zest for exploring the world and love for biking led him to take several bike trips around the U.S. and Europe with his wife. Integrity, compassion, gratitude and kindness guided his life and led to his involvement in many charities, including Village of Progress, H.O.P.E. and Rotary International.

Mr. Tilton is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra; children, Alexandra Robson, Ted Tilton Jr. and Sarah McGee; four grandchildren; and brothers, Ronald and David Tilton.

The family will hold a private memorial service on Longboat Key.
