Sarasota County opens Fire Station 17

The station includes a Sheriff's Office hub.

Rather than a ribbon-cutting, the Sarasota County Fire Department decided to launch the grand opening of the newest fire station with something more fitting: a hose uncoupling.

The county held a grand opening Thursday, Jan. 7, to welcome the public into Fire Station 17, near the Mall at UTC. The station will service the Mall area, Nathan Benderson Park, and growth east of I-75.
