1 — At 17-1, the Riverview High boys basketball team in the top ranked team in Class 8A in the most recent Florida Association of Basketball Coaches/Source Hoops state rankings, which were released Jan. 11.

2 — Sarasota Military Academy 170-pounder Jake Walker went 8-0 with six pins to earn most outstanding heavyweight honors at the Coach Kelly Hurricane Memorial Team Challenge Jan. 8 and Jan. 9.

3 — Cellexia Foster tallied 25 points, seven rebounds and five steals to lead the Booker High girls basketball team to a 55-14 district victory versus Wauchula Hardee Jan. 11.

4 — Emmanuel Lambright scored 16 points and hauled in five rebounds to lead the Cardinal Mooney boys basketball team past Sarasota Military Academy 62-23 Jan. 7.

5 — Emily Walser finished with 19 points, seven steals and seven rebounds to push the Cardinal Mooney girls basketball team past district rival Clearwater Central Catholic 50-32 Jan. 8.
