BEACH RESUSCITATION
3:50 p.m. — 1400 block of GMD
Rescue: Police responded to the scene of a possible drowning in the Gulf. Firefighter/paramedics were already on the scene trying to revive an unresponsive man. Police helped move the patient to an ambulance for transport to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
PARK PLUNDERING
1:04 p.m. — 5500 block of GMD
Property Damage: A Public Works employee reported the damage and theft of brochure boxes at Joan M. Durante Park that occurred over the previous weekend. One wooden box was damaged, and the other was stolen.
LOST DOG
6:37 p.m. — 600 block of Weston Pointe Court
Animal: A woman found a dog while walking around a golf course in her neighborhood. The dog followed her home. Police took the dog to the station to wait for its owner to retrieve it.
OUT TO SEA
10:08 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road
Lost Property: A resort employee saw a 15-foot catamaran with a blue sail blow away from the resort into the Gulf. He called a sea-towing company, but it declined to respond due to high seas and inclement weather. Police informed the Coast Guard that the vessel was out to sea with no one on board.

RISE AND SHINE
1:08 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD
Camping: Police noticed people sleeping in an RV parked in front of a restaurant. The driver of the RV and his passengers were en route to Miami and claimed a store clerk gave them permission to park there overnight. Police said the RV could stay, but the occupants couldn’t sleep there because doing so would violate a town ordinance that prohibits camping. They woke up and drove away.
HYDRANT HOOK-UP
8:09 a.m. — 5000 block of GMD
Larceny: Public Works employees informed police that a homeowner hooked up a hose to a town hydrant to fill his water tank with approximately 500 gallons. A contractor with the gas company told police he took the water to help perform directional drilling for gas lines on the island. His supervisor made plans to go to Town Hall to pay for the water usage.
ALL EYES ON DECK
2:15 a.m. — 5300 block of GMD
Security Check: Police kept close watch overnight on a real estate office they weren’t able to secure.
FIREARM FOUND
11:31 a.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road
Firearms: A maintenance worker found a gun lying under a bush near a condominium maintenance shop. The 9 mm black handgun was covered with surface rust. Police determined there were no bullets inside it.
WELCOME HOME
12:42 p.m. — 500 block of Channel Lane
Lost Property: A woman returning to the Key for the season arrived to find her white kayak missing from her carport.
FRAUD INVESTIGATION
2:06 p.m. — 500 block of Forest Way
Fraud: A man told police someone stole his wife’s credit card information and made fraudulent purchases. Police filed a fraud report, asked for a copy of the transactions and planned to investigate.
