The Braden River High boys basketball team gets another shot at District 11 foe Venice, which hosts the rematch at 7:30 p.m. The Pirates lost the first game 65-52 and they are a game behind the third-place Indians in the standings.

Tampa Bay Ultimate hosts its 23rd edition of Janus, only this time the Frisbee event will be held at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch for the first time. More than 45 open, mixed and youth Ultimate Frisbee teams from across Florida, including Lakewood Ranch’s own Mom’s Spaghetti, will hit the field for the annual event, beginning at 9 a.m.

MUSTANGS IN CHARGE
Lakewood Ranch tries to continue its District 11 dominance and lock up the No. 1 seed in the district tournament when it faces host Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs handed the Tigers their only district loss of the season, 75-67 on Dec. 15. Lakewood Ranch also would get a first-round bye in the district tournament with a win.

TOUGH ASSIGNMENT
Kolbie Ward and Amad Brayboy, who are both averaging in double figures for The Out-of-Door Academy boys basketball team, will have to take their game to another level if they hope to beat host Sarasota Christian in a game that begins at 7:30 p.m. The Thunder just snapped a three-game losing streak while the Blazers have been working on a winning streak that has reached seven games and counting. It's a non-district game for the pair of private schools.
