OBITUARY | Laura Duncan Hansen

Laura Duncan Hansen, 83, died Jan. 7.

Born May 23, 1932, she was originally from Decatur, Ga. and was a summa cum laude graduate of Duke University. She spent the last 50 years as a resident of Longboat Key.

Although she was most known for her successful career as a Realtor, she was also a tireless mother and fundraiser for her favorite charities. Mrs. Hansen served for many years on the board of United Way, in the Opera Guild and as treasurer of New College Library Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Laura Hansen O’Connell, and two grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 20, at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 40 N. Orange Ave.
