Robert Barry Thomas, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died Dec. 23.

Born and raised in the Boston suburb of Revere, Mass. to Francis and Anna Thomas, he attended Boston College as a Double Eagle. He was U.S. Army veteran.

After raising their family in East Greenwich, R.I., Mr. Thomas and his wife, Beverly, moved to Longboat Key. He always enjoyed his time spent on, in and near the water, whether it was on beaches and lakes of New England or in retirement along the shores of Sarasota.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his spouse, Beverly Thomas; their four children, Bryan, Jeffrey, Keleigh and Judith; sons-in-law, Bruce Wideberg and Kevin Calnan; daughter-in-law, Shelley Thomas; six grandchildren; brother, Lee; and sister-in-law Elaine.

A celebration of life was held in Sarasota. He was interred in the Sarasota National Cemetery.
