JAN. 16

TAKING FLIGHT
11:08 p.m. — Intersection of Longboat Club Road and Sands Point Road
Animal Rescue: Police responded to an injured bird report and found a blue heron on the side of a lake with a broken wing. When police attempted to get close to the bird, it flew into the middle of the lake. Police left a voicemail for a bird rescue group.

 

JAN. 17

WET BANDITS
5:47 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway
Boat damage: A man reported that three men boarded his neighbor’s boat, which was stuck on the southwest side of Jewfish Key after a storm. The men broke into a storage hatch, and several items were scattered around the boat.

 

JAN. 18

THE DOOR PERCEPTION
12:06 a.m. — 600 block of El Centro
Suspicious Circumstance: A man and his wife thought they heard someone turn the knob of their back door. Police found no evidence of anyone near the door.

UNCHARTERED TERRITORY
2:13 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Fraud: A woman received a call from Alaska Airlines questioning a charge on her Alaska Airlines credit card. Because the woman has never opened an Alaska Airlines credit card and has never been to Alaska, she also questioned the charge and the card itself.

‘KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO HIM’
10:37 p.m. — 3400 block of Fair Oaks Lane
Disturbance: A woman who’s sick of her grandson using her car without her permission asked police to scare him and “knock some sense into him.”

 

JAN. 20

MIRROR IMAGE
1:32 a.m. — 4200 block of GMD
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman thought she saw the top of a head and heard a gunshot when she approached her front door. There was no damage or shell casings outside the residence, and the screen door was blowing in the wind. Police requested more security, but they believe she saw her own reflection in the glass of the front door.

 

JAN. 21

EX-RATED DISPUTE
3:19 p.m. — 3400 block of Fair Oaks Lane
Larceny: A woman broke up with her boyfriend, but her ex wouldn’t stop calling her when she spent the night at her new boyfriend’s home. The next morning, she discovered that her ex-boyfriend stole a $20 bill and a $60 electronic cigarette from her car. The ex-boyfriend admitted to stealing her belongings.
