Just two months after opening Sol Meyer New York Delicatessen, Solomon Shenker is resigning from the Main Street eatery to open a new venture: Sol's NYC Deli, to be located in the former downtown Applebee's location at 1991 Main Street.

Citing disagreements with his brother-in-law and former business partner, Dr. Meyer Rubin Samotin, Shenker officially resigned from the downtown deli this Sunday and announced his plans to partner with local investors Jesse Biter and David Chessler (part of the investment team that recently purchased the building) to open the new restaurant sometime within the next few weeks.

The new, larger location features 161 seats, as well as a full bar and kitchen, and Shenker says it will allow him to produce his authentic New York-style Jewish Deli food in bulk and at a lower cost.

"I'm excited to bring another specialty restaurant to this end of Main Street," he says. "The situation behind my resignation was unfortunate, but I'm looking forward to being able to accommodate larger parties and bigger orders. And I'll be able to serve food at a more reasonable price for everybody."
