Friday, Jan. 29 
Sporting Clays Tournament
Starts at 11 a.m. at Knight’s Trail Park, 3445 Rustic Road, Nokomis. The Argus Foundation hosts its first Sporting Clays Competition. Cost to participate is $500 for a team of four; $150 for an individual shooter. Registration includes 50 shells per shooter and a barbecue lunch. Visit argusfoundation.org.

Junior League Luncheon

St. Martha Catholic School Open House

Tuesday, Feb. 2 
'How to be an Askable Parent'
Runs from 9 to 10 a.m. at Goldie Feldman Academy, 1050 S. Tuttle Ave. The one-hour session will provide age-appropriate content designed to help parents. Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida educator Pat Wolfson will lead sessions. Admission is free. Call 552-2770. 

Thursday, Feb. 4 to Sunday, Feb. 7 
Greek Glendi Festival
Runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 7671 N. Lockwood Ridge Road. Food and festivities abound, from traditional Greek dishes and pastries to live Greek music. Admission is $4; free for children under 12. Call 355-2616.

Sarasota National Stamp Exhibition 
Runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail. Sarasota County Library Foundation Luncheon Featuring Cokie Roberts
Starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency, 1000 Blvd. of the Arts. The luncheon features political commentator and author Cokie Roberts, who has co-anchored ABC's “This Week” and is a frequent political commentator on ABC News and NPR. WBTT Voices: Meet the Florida Highwaymen Artists
Runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, 1646 Nate Jacobs Way. The 2016 Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe Voices program is presented in honor of Black History Month. The program will focus on the Florida Highwaymen, a group of 26 African-American artists who painted landscapes from the early 1950s through the 1980s. Brother Brother concert
Starts at 8 p.m. at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court. Brother Brother, an Indie Americana band comprised of brothers Bradley and Brett Anderson, will perform their mix of folk, alternative, bluegrass, and roots infused original music played on acoustic instruments. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door. Brown Bag Concert Series
Takes place from noon to 1 p.m. at Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trail. Bring your lunch and a chair or blanket and enjoy a wide variety of musical performances. The series is every Thursday through March 31. Admission and parking are free. Call 316-1309. 

Ringling Underground

Shake, Rattle and Soul Fest
Runs from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Robarts Arena at Sarasota County Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd. The fourth annual event will feature four-time world champion Elvis impersonator Dwight Icenhower and tribute performances for other music legends, including Buddy Holly, Rod Stewart, James Brown, Roy Orbison and Little Richard.
