Sarasota Slam Fishing Tournament
Home base for event is located at Marina Jack, 2 Marina Plaza. The annual Sarasota Slam Fishing Tournament includes billfish, wahoo, tuna, grouper, snapper, trout and redfish categories with offshore and inshore divisions. Registration is $150 per angler for the inshore division; $500 per boat for the offshore division; and $25 per junior anglers. Visit sarasotaslam.com.

Very Merry Jerry Day
Runs from 4 to 9 p.m. at 525 Kumquat Court. WSLR 96.5 hosts the eighth annual celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia. This is a family-friendly event with kids’ activities and local vendors. Attendees can bring their own chairs and T-shirts for tie-dying. Tickets are $10. Call 894-6469.

Siesta Key Triathlon
Starts at 7:30 a.m. at Siesta Key beach, 948 Beach Road. Start training now for Sarasota's "original" triathlon, the 32nd annual Siesta Key Triathlon benefits the national champion Sarasota YMCA Sharks Swim Team.
