Students who have been diligently learning all summer for the Eagle Academy at Alta Vista Elementary School will celebrate their success with the 5th annual Eagle Fest.
The Eagle Academy is the summer learning program for Alta Vista Elementary School. Eagle Fest is a time for students and families to celebrate the end of the session with a cookout, game booths, crafts and inflatables on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Alta Vista Elementary School.
The South Shore Community Church partnered with the school to host the event and will provide each Eagle Academy student with two uniform items for the upcoming school year which starts Monday, Aug. 22.
Eagle Fest also celebrates parents who participated in the Parent University programs that helped adults earn their General Equivalency Diploma or GED as well as the Certified Nursing Assistant program.
“Our students worked hard on academics during the morning, enjoyed STEAM activities in the afternoon, exploring science, technology, engineering math and the arts,” said Barbara Shirley in a release, Alta Vista Elementary Principal. “We’re pleased to celebrate the successes of students and parents and thank the many people and organizations who make the Eagle Academy possible.”
