Though Sarasota missed the brunt of Tropical Storm Colin, the city still dealt with flooded roadways and intersections today.
The Sarasota Police Department advised drivers to avoid the intersection of Lime and Fruitville Road, Waldemere Street and Osprey Avenue and Ringling Boulevard near East Avenue. Police also closed U.S. 301 between Fifth Street and Seventh Street for about an hour.
Sarasota Police Department spokeswoman Genevieve said she expects flooding to recede this evening, but drivers should avoid flooded areas and seek an alternate route.
Sarasota will remain under a flood watch until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
