A Bradenton man wanted for armed robbery and at least four carjackings will not survive after he shot at police and then turned the gun on himself Tuesday.

“He is still on life support with no brain activity,” Bradenton Police Department spokesman Lt. James Rackey said.

A man hunt for Cody A. Morrison, 29, who is connected to an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday morning at the Circle K store at 3304 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, ended that evening in a car chase after Morrison highjacked a vehicle and was spotted by police. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office tracked Morrison’s movements by helicopter to his hiding spot. He came out at Bradenton Police Department command, but fired shots at police and they pursued him. When he failed to drop his weapon, authorities released a K9, who bit Morrison in the ribs. Morrison then shot himself in the head.
