Double Trouble
11:39 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway
Code Enforcement: A man parked in a convertible was blocking the gates to a beach access. He received a warning because the park was closed, and he was parked illegally.

May 25

Default Paranoia
7:05 p.m. — 4100 block of GMD
Fraud: A man reported that someone had been hacking into his phone and work computer. He said for the last year-and-a-half when he turns on his computer, the settings are different than how he had left them. The man said he was afraid someone might use his IP address to conduct illegal activity. The officer noticed the man had tape over his iPhone camera.

Car Creeper
7:22 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
Suspicious Person: A woman noticed a man taking pictures of the rear of her car as she was leaving for work. She told police she did not get a good look at him, because he immediately fled the area. Officers did not find any evidence of tampering or damage on the car.

Cleaning Confrontation
10:29 a.m. — 1900 block of GMD
Battery: A condo resident began yelling at employees as they cleaned the walls outside his unit. When an employee asked him to stop yelling, the resident bumped his chest and flipped the hat off of his head, according to another staffer. The employee did not want to file charges. The property manager, who called police, told officers it was an ongoing problem.

Paranormal Activity
6:36 p.m. — 6700 block of GMD
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman called police from Orlando to report she saw an intruder in her Longboat Key home via a security camera feed. She told officers it was a white male with a beard and dark clothing, but they did not find any sign of forced entry or theft at the residence. The woman said it might have been a maintenance person, although she did not receive a call about such work.

Gym Bully
4:23 p.m. — 3800 block of GMD
Battery: Two condominium residents began arguing in the complex’s gym. The man who reported the incident said another man had threatened to knock his lights out, then bumped him while moving from the stationary bicycle to a treadmill. The man showed a partial video of the incident to police.

Gran Torino
4:05 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road
Disturbance: A man reported that several teenagers wandered onto his property and began talking about things he didn’t understand. They then began cursing at and threatening him but fled when he said he would call police. The man told officers he wasn't intimidated by them.

Inaccurate Information
7:46 p.m. — 2400 block of GMD
Turtle Code Violation: A caller reported people playing horseshoes near a turtle nest. Police found two couples playing bocce ball with no turtle nests in sight.

Different Perspectives
7:15 p.m. — 5600 block of GMD
Disturbance: A woman approached an officer to report that she had an argument with a family member at dinner and wanted a ride home. Police made contact with the family member, who said it was only a disagreement. Restaurant staff told the officer it was nothing but a discussion, and police gave the woman a ride home.
