COMMENCEMENT COMMOTION
1:52 a.m. — 700 block of North Brinks Avenue
Noise Complaint: After receiving a noise complaint, officers made contact with a man who said he was having a graduation party at the residence in question. Officers then contacted the man’s mother, who said she was aware of the party. The man said everyone would leave shortly and apologized for any inconvenience. 

GASSED UP
2:33 p.m. — 1200 block of North Washington Boulevard
Trespass: A man went to a business to return a vehicle he had purchased. He said he was supposed to get refunded $815, but the business only gave him $800. The man said that was the correct price for the car, but he had also put $15 worth of gas into the vehicle, and he wanted that refunded, too. An employee at the business said the man was causing a scene, and wanted him trespassed from the property. The employee said the $15 in gas money was never part of the deal, and the business had no intention of paying him that money. The employee said the man could file a civil lawsuit to get the $15 if he thought it was necessary. The man said he did not care that he was not welcome on the property, because he did not want to come back. He added that he would see the dealership in court to get his $15.

SIGN AWAY
2:29 a.m. — 2100 block of Ringling Boulevard
Property Damage: An officer received a report of a man creating a disturbance outside of a fast-food restaurant. When he arrived, the officer noticed a stop sign in the middle of the road in front of the restaurant. The officer asked a man if he knew anything about the stop sign, and the man responded, “Yeah, I got mad at it and threw it in the road.” The man said he was angry because he felt the stop sign ran into him. The officer said the man was slurring his speech, had trouble maintaining proper balance and smelled of alcohol.

A witness approached the officer and shared a video from her cell phone in which the man was approaching vehicles in the drive-thru, screaming profanities at the cars. The video also showed the man approaching and harassing customers eating outside. The witness said she saw the man rip the stop sign from the ground and throw it into the street. The manager of the restaurant said he wanted the man trespassed from the property.

Midnight — 1800 block of Prospect Street
Suspicion: A woman reported that an unknown man was banging on the front of her house. The woman said the man told her he needed to get his phone from inside the house. She said the man left the area while she was calling the police, and officers were unable to locate the man in the area.
