Sometime after 6 p.m. on Monday evening a customer at Buddy Brew Coffee at 1289 N. Palm Ave. donated $6 to pay if forward and cover the cost of the next customer's purchase.
The train of pay it forward purchases lasted until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and covered an estimated of 100 transactions. Barista Derek Gould worked from open to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and delighted in the reactions of customers when he told them their drinks were covered.
"I kind of didn't want it to stop," Gould said. "Everybody was pretty surprised when they found out about it."
In the wake of the Orlando shootings the artfully decorated bicycles by William Pearson or Dr. Nik parked around Downtown Sarasota stand out encouraging peace, love and music. A bike covered in white and sporting a peace sign can be found by the U.S. Post Office on Ringling Boulevard, while the red love bike is parked outside of Whole Foods. The bike with bells for peace was parked in Five Points Park during the vigil Monday evening.
