Disturbance: While a man was reporting to police that his ex-girlfriend had been harassing and threatening him, the woman in question called his cellphone. Officers spoke to the woman, who said she wanted to exchange items with the man. Officers chaperoned the exchange, during which the woman returned his paddle and humidifier.
June 16
Everything But The Kitchen Sink
2:39 p.m. — 5000 block of GMD
Burglary: A woman reported that an unknown person entered her home and stole five ceiling fans worth $3,000, three faucets worth $750 and a light fixture worth $850. The property is under construction, and multiple work crews are at the residence daily. The woman said she thought it was odd that a tile company came to the home when they weren’t schedule to do work.
June 17
Noisy Coons
2:06 a.m. — 400 block for North Shore Drive
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman called police to report noises outside of her unit. An officer noted that there were two raccoons scurrying around outside, and high winds were coming off of the Gulf of Mexico. Despite hearing about these circumstances, the woman remained frightened until the officer gave the woman her personal cellphone number in case she hears more noises.
For Sale
11:12 a.m. — 800 block of Marbury Lane
Property Damage: A woman reported that contractors had been driving over the shell rock in her yard. She asked officers to ensure the workers repair and replace the shell rock to make the home presentable, as it is for sale. The construction manager agreed to replace the shell rock.
Missing Bench
3:39 p.m. — 3700 block of GMD
Boat/Miscellaneous: An officer arrived in Buttonwood Harbor to investigate reports of a plastic bench floating in the water. Police were unable to locate the bench, but the officer reported that if found, he would return it to the Gulf Shore trailer park.
Perfect Crime
3:44 p.m. — 4500 block of GMD
Traffic Accident: A woman called police to report that someone had backed into her parked car. Besides a small dent in the bumper, there was no paint exchange to help officers find the offending vehicle, and not witnesses to the event.
June 18
Penny Pinching
1:44 p.m. — 500 block of Bayview Drive
Larceny: A man reported that an employee from a company that is renovating his home had stolen change from a can in his closet. He wasn’t concerned with the amount missing, which he estimated to be $50, but wanted to make a record of the incident to better inform the public.
June 21
Bad Boys
8:53 p.m. — Longboat Pass Bridge
Assault: While an officer was investigating another incident, a truck drove by and the passenger yelled an obscene word and threw a bottle at the officer. Police stopped the truck and arrested two of the occupants, who remained defiant and shouted obscenities during the arrest. Officers also found several guns in the truck.

10:02 a.m. — 900 block of Spanish Drive North
Suspicious Circumstance: A caller reported that an airplane was writing messages in the sky, such as “You + God = :)”. The caller was reporting the incident under the "If You See Something, Say Something" rule of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
