New Wawa slated for State Road 64, Upper Manatee River Road

Another Wawa may be joining the growing number of the Pennsylvania-based gas station and convenient store combos in East County.

An application received by Manatee County Tuesday, Feb. 4, reveals a plan for a new Wawa at the corner of State Road 64 and Upper Manatee River Road.

The site, owned by Warner Crossing LLC of Bradenton, would include a 6,119-foot building on the 1.8 –acre property.

The nearest gas station is a Speedway across the street.

If approved by the county commissioners, this would become the next in a line of Wawa’s stretching across both Manatee and Sarasota counties.

In Manatee County, S.R. 64 opened its first Wawa just east of the Braden River in September; a second opened at S.R. 70 and Lorraine Road in November and a third is under construction at Lockwood Ridge and S.R. 70 in West Lake Plaza along with a Walmart Neighborhood Market.

In Sarasota County, a Wawa at U.S. 301 and Myrtle Street in under construction and another is planned at University Parkway and Honore Avenue, along with a Whole Foods and a restaurant
