Longboat Key Health Fair — Takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road. The event is free for residents who have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance coverage and $39 for others. The event includes blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screenings and more. Thursday, March 3

'In the Kitchen with Sylvia' — Takes place at noon at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road. The event will be a hands-on demonstration by Temple member and “chef extraordinaire” Sylvia Pastor. Call 383-3428.

Longboat Key Center for the Arts Fundraiser­ — Takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, 6860 Longboat Drive S. Enjoy food and cocktails from Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant and Pub and a concert by Reverend Barry and Funktastic Soul Dance Party. Cost is $75. Call 383-2345.

Shirley Fein Tribute Night— Takes place at 6 p.m. at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road. The evening will celebrate community activist Shirley Fein. There will be a cocktail hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres followed by tributes from family, friends and community leaders as well as a musical program. Tuesday, March 8

Lord’s Warehouse Fashion Show and Luncheon — takes place at 11 a.m. at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The longest-running annual fashion show on the Key features clothing and accessories from the Lord’s Warehouse thrift store. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and raffles. Cost is $25. Longboat Key Democratic Club — Takes place at 11:30 a.m. at Portofino Restaurant, 2600 Harbourside Drive. Mayor Jack Duncan and Town Manager David Bullock will speak. Cost is $25. Call 383-9893.

‘Healthcare Costs in Retirement — Planning for the Great Unknown’ — Takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. at Aging in Paradise Resource Center, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Johanna Gustafsson and Christopher Pinckney, of Merrill Lynch, will talk about protecting your wealth from healthcare costs in retirement and planning strategies for protecting and growing retirement assets. Save Our Seabirds Sunset Soiree — Takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mote Marine Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway.
