Mustangs hand Pirates first loss

The Lakewood Ranch softball team improved to 15-3 with its win over rival Braden River.

Trailing 5-3, the Lakewood Ranch softball team scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added an insurance run in the sixth inning to top rival Braden River 10-6 in non-district action March 15. 

Madi LoCastro went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs, three RBI and three runs scored to lead the way for the Mustangs at the plate. Denali Schappacher went 3-for-4 with a walk and also scored two runs. 

Kinsey Goelz went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Maddy Yoder and Kailey Christian each had two hits and a RBI. 

Christian earned the win on the mound for Lakewood, finishing with 10 strikeouts. 

Braden River senior Bethaney Keen went 2-for-2 with two walks, a RBI and three runs scored to lead the way for the Pirates. Junior Myah Moy drove in a pair of runs and also scored two runs.
