11:52 p.m. — 500 Block of St. Judes Drive
Suspicious person: Police responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated woman who was flagging down drivers. Her sister had left her at the location after an argument. Police gave the woman a courtesy ride to St. Armands after her mother agreed to pick her up there.
LONGBOAT NIGHT LIFE
8:01 p.m. — 6700 Block of GMD
Noise Disturbance: A resident complained about noise from a fundraiser at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts. The operator of the fundraiser had obtained the necessary permits and promised the event would be over by 9:30 p.m.
STARING CONTEST
1:56 p.m. — 3700 Block of GMD
Disturbance: A caller complained that a man with whom he has a long-standing disagreement over davits and exhaust confronts him at various locations and stares at him to get a reaction, which sometimes results in an exchange of words. The man said the situation is getting worse.
CLOSE CALL
8:35 a.m. — 6000 Block of GMD
Disturbance: A man complained that while he was jogging, he was nearly hit by a sod truck driver making a U-turn. The officer spoke with the owner of the sod company, who said he’d speak to his drivers.
FISHING STORY
6:43 p.m. — 500 Block of Lyons Lane
Suspicious Circumstance: A man reported that his grandson took his boat keys. The grandson left on his bicycle, and his grandfather was pursuing him when the officer arrived on scene. The officer met with both of them at a different location and they explained that they had been fishing and got into an argument. The man had retrieved his keys before the officer arrived.

3:01 p.m. — 800 Block of Broadway
Suspicious person: A man who was reportedly sleeping on the town dock said that he had lied down after fishing. He was not intoxicated or violating the law.
GRANDSON VS. GRANDPA REMATCH
8:35 a.m. — 500 Block of Lyons Lane
Disturbance: A woman called to complain that her grandson was taking fishing gear off her husband’s boat, though she asked him to wait until her husband could be there. He was belligerent and told the responding officer that he would bring a gun when he removed his items. The officer noted that the grandson appeared to be under the influence of drugs and said he had been treated recently for depression.
ONCE YOU POP, YOU CAN'T STOP
8:34 a.m. — 5000 Block of GMD
Larceny: A man complained that two saws, a master lock cable and potato chips were stolen from his house, under construction. The responding officer obtained a partial finger print that was submitted into evidence. The caller believes an employee of a door-installation company could have stolen the equipment because the company's employees were walking around the house looking at tools, which the caller thought was suspicious.
BREAKING THE LOCK
6:48 a.m. — 2000 Block of GMD
Rescue: Police and fire responders were forced to cut the security chain on a door when a woman fell and hurt her leg because she could not open the door. She was taken to a hospital.
