Carlos E. Haile Middle School broke its own record this year while fundraising for Hoops for Heart with the American Heart Association.
The school held a similar fundraiser last year, raising $1,900; this year, students raised $2,250.
Students competed in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for the last two weeks, playing the bracket after school. Eight teams competed for the championship game, held Wednesday, March 16. On Friday, March 18, the top two teams played an exhibition game for students who had helped raise money. Assistant Principle Bob Sloman also recognized Riley Holton, who donated $100 herself to the fundraiser.
