The Lakewood Ranch girls tennis team will be the team to beat heading into the final day of the Class 4A-District 8 tennis tournament, at Bath & Racquet Club.
The Mustangs hold a 13-11 lead over Riverview with all five singles finals, as well as the doubles semifinals and finals matches, to be played March 31. Play will resume at 1 p.m.
Lakewood's Gia Cohen will face Riverview's Willow Weintraub for the No. 1 singles final while Lakewood's Natalia Vuckovic will face Amanda Rosenberg for the No. 2 singles title.
Lakewood and Riverview will take the court at No. 3 singles as well with Grace Hagopian of the Mustangs taking on the Rams' Kendri Cruz. The Mustangs' Sara Benson will face Riverview's McKenzie Quigley for the the No. 4 singles title.
At No. 5 singles, Riverview's Amanda Natherson will face St. Petersburg's Yasmine Baydoun.
On the boys side, Riverview trails St. Petersburg 12-11.
Riverview's Antoine Sanchez will play for the No. 1 singles title, facing Adam Ambrozy of St. Petersburg. Finn Anderson of the Rams will face Sarasota's Reid Devitt at No. 2 singles. Sarasota's Sam Maxwell will play in the No. 3 singles final against Seminole's Jasen Norris.
Riverview's Brandon Lup will face Jacob Hehn for the No. 5 singles title.
