Good-deed-doer gets 'trashed'
2500 block of 8th Avenue East
Petit theft: A man was letting a couple stay in his spare bedroom. However one night the couple were partying and he asked them to get their belongings and leave. He then left to visit a friend. He believes the two came back to the house, because when he returned, the house was “trashed,” with clothes, lotion and water strewn around the house. The couple’s property had been removed and the man noticed $150 of his cash, which was hidden, was also taken. The couple returned at a later time to talk about the incident, and the man again called the Sheriff’s Office. They denied trashing the home but said they were extremely upset about getting kicked out. The deputy advised them not to return to the residence.

Suspicious incidents: A woman called the Sheriff’s Office after a stranger broke into her apartment. She said she heard her door knob jiggle, and at first thought it was her boyfriend. When the door opened, a man she didn’t know put a lock pick in his pocket and walked in. When he saw her, he said “I must have gotten the wrong residence,” and left.

14300 block of Gnatcatcher Terrace
Information only: A man called the Sheriff’s Office because he found his vehicle’s right rear window shattered. The deputy talked to the neighbor and neighbor’s son and the father admitted that he and his son had been shooting at a wasp’s nest with a pellet gun. One of the shots may have ricocheted and shattered the window. The man agreed not to press charges and the neighbor agreed to pay for the damages.

200 block of Tidal Lane
Information only: A woman was on her way to work when she noticed a 2-year-old child walking alone on the roadway. She called the Sheriff’s Office and knocked on some nearby apartments with no results. The Sheriff’s Office deputies also knocked on doors and 30 minutes later the father was located. The child had unlocked the door somehow, walked down the stairway three stories and wandered away.
